The adventures behind collecting, spawning and culturing jellyfish from around the planet

There has been a sort of Renaissance in the jellyfish world the last decade or so. More and more species of jellyfish have been successfully aquacultured in captivity. These jellyfish have been shared to other public aquariums and labs, allowing them to be cultured all over. Yet despite this, information about the species themselves is severely lacking. The small amount of existing material is scattered across various published papers, obscure books and online articles.
I realized the need for a centralized hub for detailed information on the various species of jellyfish kept in captivity. And so the jellyfish compendium was created! I worked to photograph the various life stages of each species so that they may be freely available for study, comparison or just for the sake of enjoyment. Relevant information on the husbandry and care of each species is included as well.
The Adventure

This is of course, a never ending task. Looking at just true jellyfish, there are over 200 species (possibly an upwards of 400). And then there are box jellies, comb jellies and hydromedusa. I look forward to working on this over the course of my life, adding new species and updating information whenever possible.
I will use this blog to share the stories and adventures of finding and collecting new species of jellyfish to add to the compendium.
This is AMAZING. I'm a teenager, probably around the age when you began your jellyfish research, and I'm absolutely in love with these invisible enigmas. Your research is always so enjoyable to read and watch :)
